What is RetroFit?

In Residential terms, Retrofit is the improvement of energy efficiency measures of a property with a fabric first, whole house programme approach. This could mean improving any type of insulation measures that are suited to your properties needs, type and criteria, replacement of existing heating systems, improving air quality through ventilation systems to reduce the risk of condensation, mould & damp, as well as looking at forms of renewable energy sources. With the whole house approach we look to deliver a huge reduction in energy bills and a great amount of reduction of co2 carbon emissions.

In 2019, the British Standards Institute (BSI) published documentation called BSI Publicly Available Specification also known as (PAS) 2035 which is the new Government & OFGEM requirements from July 1st 2021. The purpose of the document is to create a framework for high quality, safe and fit for purpose Retrofit projects to be undertaken under the new guidelines.

Domestic properties requiring ECO funded installations will first need to be assessed by a Retrofit assessor who will gather data, information and evidence which will then be overseen by a Retrofit Coordinator who will then use the information provided to design a plan to carry out the installation meeting the necessary Building Regulations requirements.

All ECO grant funded measures carried out under the new PAS2035 guidelines must be undertaken by TrustMark registered contractors who meet the PAS2030:2019 guidelines and are certified to carry out the necessary installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have strong partnerships with the world’s top tech companies.

Depending on your circumstances, if you qualify for the grant then no it will be a free of charge, if not then your survey cost will range from between £39 – £89 dependent upon the type of survey carried out, however the survey cost will be deducted from your final cost of installation should you wish to proceed.

Great question! The survey approach will be external first and then carried out internally to make sure that the property is suitable for the works to be carried out and what improvements, remedials need to be made prior to installation. We have all types of fancy gadgets that really cut down the time to complete a survey so rest assured we will not take too long!

Of course, all of our surveyors and assessors will carry up to date I.D badges.

How long after the survey will it take for the works to be completed?
On average, between 7days -14days. Rest assured we will keep you up to speed on every step of your application.

All of our contractors are approved and accredited by Trustmark and relevant certification bodies. We will only use the contractors most suited to your property type, for example depending on where you’re demographically located, how exposed to rain and wind your home is and depending on measurements etc. Different materials are suited to different homes. We will only look out for your properties best interest and recommend the relevant installers accordingly. We closely work with all of our contractors to make sure quality control is always kept to the highest of standards.

Yes, depending on what work was carried out you will receive the relevant guarantee.

Because we are an independent surveying company we will recommend only the best of materials to suit your home, for example if you go directly with an installation company they will only use the materials that they are approved to use however even though that is fine there are other companies that would use materials that have a greater U-Value and have a better method of installation. The better the U-Value in a nutshell means higher quality materials and the more money you will save on your energy bills in the long run. We are also fully accredited as assessors to visit you and carry out all types of surveys.

Yes, we are testing 2-3 times per week and wearing face masks, hand sanitizing before and after each survey and staying 2 meters apart. We have also reduced the amount of surveys each surveyor will have per day.
